What will you be doing? - About the Position
The Housekeeping & Cleaner role is an essential part of the camp’s daily operation. Their purpose is to ensure the facilities and grounds at Elks Camp Moore are clean and well-presented and remain clean and sanitized at all times. They will support the camp counselors to ensure that any mess made by the campers is cleaned up in a timely manner, that supplies are stocked and available for camp staff to grab and use at any time, and that families and visitors see a well-presented facility.

You take pride in keeping spaces clean and organized. You have an eye for detail, ensuring that all areas of the camp—cabins, dining halls, bathrooms—are spotless and well-maintained, creating a welcoming environment for campers and staff.

You’re comfortable working on your own and don’t need constant supervision. You can follow a set cleaning schedule and complete tasks independently, taking initiative to make sure the job is done efficiently and correctly.
Strong Time Management Skills
You’re able to manage your time well and stick to a routine. Whether it’s daily cleaning tasks or preparing the camp for the next set of activities, you know how to prioritize and complete your work within the required timeframe.
Restocking and Organization
You understand the importance of keeping supplies stocked and organized. You make sure that bathrooms and common areas are always stocked with essential items like soap, paper towels, and cleaning products, helping the camp run smoothly.

Camp life is busy, and your role is critical to ensuring everything runs smoothly. You are reliable, showing up on time and ready to work, and you take ownership of your responsibilities, consistently delivering a high standard of cleanliness.
Flexible and Adaptable
You’re able to adapt to changes in the camp schedule and jump in wherever help is needed. Whether it’s a last-minute request or a sudden change in priorities, you’re flexible and ready to adjust to whatever the day brings.
Commitment to Health and Safety
Cleanliness is essential to a healthy camp environment, and you understand the importance of maintaining a clean and sanitary space, especially in a special needs camp setting. You follow hygiene protocols and ensure that the camp is a safe place for everyone.

While you may work independently, you’re part of the camp team. You have a positive attitude and are always willing to help out when needed, contributing to the overall well-being of the campers and staff.
Entry Requirements
1.Must be 18 years of age or older.
2. Must provide a physical / health form that has been signed by a medical professional. Annual health screening will be required for any staff who has a gap in their work schedule greater than 6 months between worked days.
3. Complete camp application including the ability to obtain three acceptable professional / character references from non-family members or friends. These should consist of previous employment, volunteer organizations, professors/teachers, sports coaches, or community members who know you well enough to provide an acceptable reference.
4. Must provide the camp with a voluntary disclosure form, and a USA & Home Country police/background check which includes a sex offender record verification. These checks must be completed annually for all staff members regardless if they have been employed year-round or seasonally. These checks must be clear without a history of any offenses.
5. Ability to attend and successfully complete/pass a New Hire Training before working directly with any campers.
